REDUCE WASTE

Stop throwing money away

You do not need to look hard to realise that there is a growing problem when it comes to the disposal of wooden pallets. A simple drive through your local industrial area will present many opportunities to pick up waste wooden pallets left on the kerb. The reason is simple - wood is increasingly expensive to dispose of and businesses are hoping that people will come and take it away for home projects or other uses.

Not only is the cost rising, the amount of waste we generate is increasing. Increased imports to Australia as well as movement of freight around Australia is leading to a growing problem of waste wooden pallets.

Even back in 2012, it was estimated that 140,000 tonnes of waste wood pallets and crates was sent to landfill in Sydney alone each year. At an estimated cost of $50/tonne for landfill, this represents a $70 million cost to business.

Cardboard pallets can be recycled in with other paper waste, and, if you're on top of your waste management streams - disposal should cost you nothing or very little.
